Nine of Wands

Manifesting our desires is not always an instant process. In fact, the grander the vision of what we desire, the more time, effort, or energy will be required to bring it to fruition.

In between the time we set our vision and when we achieve it lie many trials and errors. With each mistake we make, with each disappointing outcome we experience in pursuing our dream, we find it takes more determination to take another shot at it. Reminding ourselves to “get back on the horse” begins to feel like an empty cliché, providing us with little to no inspiration.

When we begin to experience repeated disappointment due to unsuccessful attempts at making our desires real, we would do well to understand and accept that we are not yet ready to receive that which we have been envisioning. Let’s be clear; this is not to say we need to drop our pursuit, turn around and walk away, necessarily. Rather, it means we are not yet equipped to manage the desired outcome if it were to come into our lives at this moment.

Within each failed attempt, within each battle lost, with each shot that misses the mark, there is a gift. There is a lesson that we are offering ourselves. In actuality there are no losses. There are only gains that we are failing to see because they do not appear to match our vision. These gifts and gains that appear to be losses are designed to teach us where we need to adjust our perspective on our lives and ourselves. This is a prerequisite that will allow us to hold onto our manifested dreams once they arrive, lest we lose them due to not having learned the appropriate way to hold them when the wind rises and threatens to snatch them away moments after we had taken ahold of them.

The bigger the dream, the more prudent it is to accept there will be failed attempts at achieving them. However, there are truly no failures when we do not allow ourselves to take these losses to mean we are not deserving of success. Rather we need to find the lesson in the loss, the gift it is presenting us to be able to prepare ourselves for the next course of action.
